UltiBASE publishes original research, work-in-progress,
personal reflections and interviews. We focus on teaching and learning
in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Education.
UltiBASE has an editorial
board drawn from leading academics and practitioners from around
the world. This board engages in blind, peer-review of articles and
operates within a supportive framework. All submissions are rigorously
reviewed and contributors receive prompt and encouraging feedback.
In order to take full advantage of the possibilities
of World Wide Web publishing we encourage the use of innovative media,
such as online streaming of presentations and hypertext material.
Papers in languages other than English are also
encouraged.
Submission Guidelines
Peer reviewed articles
These follow the usual conventions for publication
of an article and cover relevant research and/or theory, rationale and
methodology of the work, results and implications. They are reports
of research or critical reviews which advance professional and reflective
practice in university teaching.
The Editor, in consultation with the author, devises
the electronic publication format if needed.
We ask ultiBASE referees to follow our Process
and to use our Proforma for Referees to
assess articles against the following criteria as well as making a broad
general evaluation for the author:
- Significance of the article to research and development
in the field of tertiary teaching
- Clarity of purpose
- Originality of contribution
- Technical adequacy of contribution
- Relevance for readers from many disciplines
- Readability
Work-in-progress
This is published on ultiBASE with the view to receiving
peer feedback prior to final publication. Feedback received is published
with the article for as long as the article is available for review.
- All submissions should include authors' full
names, contact details and the full name of their organisation.
- Manuscripts should be sent as an e-mail attachment
or on disk in MS Word format.
- Papers may be of any length but 4000-6000 is
suggested.
- Contributors are encouraged to use multimedia
and other innovations:
- Embedded graphs, images and tables should also
be submitted as an individual file in their native format (e.g bmp,
png, cdr etc) where possible.
- Hypertext links both within and outside articles
are encouraged. Please supply accurate URLs for external links.
- The Harvard citation system is preferred since
footnotes are awkward in Web documents.
- Authors should not use unusual style sheets,
as these are often very difficult to translate to html for web pages.
The University (ultiBASE), while taking all reasonable
care, will not be liable for the loss or damage to any work while in
its possession and therefore authors should ensure that they have retained
a complete copy.

Articles
Except where any other arrangement is agreed between
the University and an Author, the copyright in any article published
by the University remains the property of the Author and the University
will publish an acknowledgement of copyright ownership at the end of
the article. Although submitting an article to the University does not
impose any obligation on the University to publish it, the University
will inform an author within six months of submission whether it intends
to publish the article. The University will not publish any article
before the Author has signed the University's publishing Agreement.
The acknowledgement of copyright ownership at the
end of the article generally consists of the following:
Copyright © Name of author, date. For uses other
than personal research or study, as permitted under the Copyright
Laws of your country, permission must be negotiated with the author/s.
Any further publication permitted by the author/s must include full
acknowledgement of first publication in ultiBASE (http://ultibase.rmit.edu.au).
Please contact the Editor
of ultiBASE for assistance with acknowledgement of subsequent publication.
Articles published will be retained on ultiBASE
for not less than twelve months.
