ultiBASE In-Site, May 1998ISSN 1328-1798Dear Subscriber, The Faculty of Education, Language and Community Services at RMIT University is pleased to announce that ultiBASE is to continue in an expanded form. Subsequent to the ending of Commonwealth funding, the Faculty has agreed to underwrite the activities of ultiBASE for the immediate future. It is expected that at some time in the future we may need to initiate some form of fee for access or subscription. We are aiming to broaden the focus of ultiBASE to include scholarly papers in the fields of education, language, youth and justice studies and community services. We will of course be maintaining the core activity of publishing papers dealing with tertiary teaching and learning. For Australian contributors we are pleased to announce that DEETYA have confirmed that peer-reviewed papers published with ultiBASE will qualify for publication category C1 as a research component of the university operating grants (Research Quantum). To meet all the requirements we are currently assembling an international peer-review panel and will be changing our name to the UltiBASE Journal. The UltiBASE site will also continue to publish editorially moderated articles, which will be clearly identified as such, academic resources and other items of interest. All published, peer-reviewed papers will be certified in writing by the Dean of the Faculty for authors' validation processes. As ultiBASE is an electronic journal we invite contributors to make use of the medium and utilise links and multimedia (real audio, gif animations etc.) We are also able to set up threaded discussions to your papers or organise list serves. In addition, we expect that in most cases the time from submission to publication will be two to three months. It is expected that these adjustments will be finalised by early July with our next issue later that month. Full details of the editorial board will be published as soon as they are available. CALL FOR PAPERSWe would therefore like to invite all subscribers, and others to participate in this venture and to submit papers in any of the discipline areas suggested above. In the field of tertiary teaching and learning we are still wishing to gather more material about post-graduate supervision. We also wish to solicit articles dealing with the VET sector and related issues.Submitting PapersPlease submit your papers via email in MS word (any version). Don't submit in html mark-up unless by prior arrangement. Also ensure that all graphical elements are also attached. Submissions should be emailed to Marita MuellerRegards from Mark Laidler Contact us to have ultiBASE In-Site emailed to you each month. Tell a colleague about ultiBASE too. |
