Firstly there is a personal account by Pam Green entitled Dual perspectives on postgraduate supervision. The author's role as supervisor of postgraduate students is influenced by her recent experience studying for a higher degree. She suggests practical strategies to increase and maintain the commitment needed to complete the higher degree journey.

The second article to follow the theme of higher degree supervision is Supervising postgraduate students - strategies for departments and supervisors. This article is divided into two parts: strategies for assisting postgraduate students at the departmental or faculty level and strategies and suggestions for individual supervisors.

Our second theme for the month is multimedia. Professor Alan Gilbert, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Melbourne, makes some provocative statements in Leading the multimedia mainstream. We invite you to respond to his ideas.

Our November November Teaching Tips are devoted to copyright issues. Michael Lean, Copyright Officer at Queensland University of Technology has contributed 'Copyright guidelines for multimedia developers'.

Peter Ling's article entitled Evaluating teaching initiatives which employ resource based learning has received more post publication peer review.
