American Educational Research Journal

The journal contains articles from a wide variety of academic disciplines and substantive fields which contribute to the understanding and/or improvement of educational processes and outcomes. It has two distinct sections:
1. The Social and Institutional Analysis section explores the broader contexts within which educational theory, practice and the study of these phenomena occur.
2. The Teaching, Learning and Human Development section explores the processes and outcomes of teaching, learning and human development at all educational levels and in both formal and informal settings. Abstracts of published articles are also available.

College Teaching

College Teaching is the unique, cross-disciplinary journal that focuses on the teacher in the classroom, the core of the college. Computers and Education

Computers continue to make an ever-increasing impact on all aspects of education, from primary to tertiary and in the growing areas of open and distance learning. This journal is an established forum for communication in the use of all forms of computing in this socially and technologically significant area of application and serves as a reference standard against which the current state of the art can be assessed. Distance Education

The journal is published by the Open and Distance Learning Association of Australia (ODLAA), the former Australian and South Pacific External Studies Association (ASPESA). The aim of the journal is to engender and disseminate research and scholarship in distance education, open learning and flexible learning systems. . ASPESA was formed in 1973 and membership is open to all persons, organisations and groups interested in the practice and administration of distance education.

Education and Society

First published in 1983, this international journal provides a forum whereby teachers and scholars throughout the world can examine and evaluate current issues and problems in education and society from a broad balanced socio-cultural, economic and political perspective. It covers a wide range of themes including social and cultural factors influencing education, socialisation theories, educational and political reforms, curriculum and teaching and comparative studies in education and sociology.

Educational Practice and Theory

Formerly published under the title `New Education', this truly international journal focuses on educational practice and theory, providing a forum for teachers and other professionals to reflect on their own practice or philosophy of teaching. The journal deals with a wide range of themes covering issues from `teachers reporting child abuse to `the use of information technology in school management'.

Innovative Higher Education

Now in its 24th year of publication, Innovative Higher Education is a refereed scholarly journal. The goals of the journal are to:

  • present descriptions and evaluations of innovations and provocative new ideas with relevance for action beyond the immediate context in higher education;
  • focus on the effect of such innovations on teaching and students;
  • be open to diverse forms of scholarship and research methods by maintaining flexibility in the selection of topics deemed appropriate for the journal;
  • and strike a balance between practice and theory by presenting manuscripts in a readable and scholarly manner to both faculty and administrators in the academic community

Quality Assurance in Education

Sociology of Education

This journal provides a forum for studies in sociology of education and human social development. It examines how social institutions and individuals' experience within these institutions affect educational processes and social development. Educational issues arise throughout the lifecycle. This journal examines all stages and all types of education at the individual, institutional, and organisational levels. Current contents are also available.

The journal is published quarterly in January, April, July and October by the American Sociological Association.

Teaching and Teacher Education: An International Journal of Research and Studies

This international journal aims to enhance theory, research, and practice in teaching and teacher education through the publishing of papers concerned with the description of teaching, teaching effectiveness, the factors that determine teachers' thought processes and performances and social policies that affect teachers. It includes perspectives from psychology, sociology, anthropology, economics, political science, history and philosophy. Current contents are also available.
